Isolating Distance

How do you stay connected while physically distant?

While I was part of the NYU Summer Residency I spent 2 months away from my family. The need to connect appeared in my work, as I focused solely on negative space between my subjects, as a way to solidify the distance. I choose trees that had become landmarks in my day, along with trees from back home, as my subjects. The wood panels became a way to commemorate these tree images upon tree bones and to further solidify these moments.
